The transmission the dealer put the didn't charge me for it because it was under warranty at 108,000 miles now is 115, 000 so I know what they have to say. I will call the dealer tomorrow, but I have to be prepare because I know what they are going to say. Something is wrong inside this transmission and now is leaking badddddd. And now start to leak transmission fluid again at the same seal. I can feel the grinding on the gas pedal as it goes down the road. I been driving the car to shorts drives because I am afraid is going to give up any time. I took it to the dealer and found (like always) nothing wrong. I also replace the axle seal because it was leaking fluid bad. I replace the axle because that wasn't a transmission part, it was a drive train part. After I replace the axle shaft because I couldn't put the other one back into the transmission, it was so bad It didn't go back into the transmission. I took the car (and the bad axle shaft) to the dealer they found nothing wrong. The transmission the dealer put a month ago at that time show metal shavings melted and welded to the inner cv joint inside the transmission. I remove the Shaft to replace the seal and found out what you see on the pictures that I up load. On September 2007 Transmission leak through the passenger side axle shaft. On August 2007 Dealer Bianchi Honda of Erie, Pa put a new rebuilt one because they found the transmission was shifting not normal and the clunk noise when put in reverse. I had to take it back because a big clunk when put in reverse after the worked on the car. Had transmission differential rebuilt on July 2007 paid 1,277.00. Also make sure your 2001 Accord has been checked for the airbag recall: excessive pressure may cause metal fragments during airbag deployment. This sensor is covered under Honda's lifetime seat belt warranty, but some dealers charge a $100+ "diagnostic fee" or tell customers the entire SRS unit ($800) is bad. The SRS warning light likes to come on due to a defective seat belt sensor - typically the driver's side. Repair cost to the subframe is over $2,000. Subframe rust near the front passenger side wheel has become a problem recently, due to the poorly positioned A/C drain hose directly above that area. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as settlement for a class action lawsuit, but that period is over & owners of Accords with transmission problems are out of luck. Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for Honda Accords & other models all through the early 2000s model years. The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 100,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000. We recommend avoiding this model year like the plague. Notes: The 2001 Honda Accord suffers from widespread transmission failure, subframe rust, & problems with the airbag system (SRS).
